60-day public comment period open for lower/middle Minnesota River WRAPS and TMDL reports.

July 24, 2019

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has spent the last several years compiling comprehensive reports about the health of the lower & middle Minnesota River watersheds. Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategies (WRAPS) and Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) reports use the best available science to analyze the pollutants moving through these systems and the management practices needed on the landscape to address them. This 60-day public comment period is the publics last chance to address the content of these reports before they go to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for review and acceptance. Comments will be accepted from July 22nd, 2019 – September 20th, 2019. Follow this link to the MPCA website to your submit comments.

Sibley SWCD provided education to local students!

May 29, 2019

During the past few weeks the Sibley SWCD staff provided educational programs for elementary students at area schools in Green Isle, Gaylord, and Henderson.  The Sibley SWCD provided lilac trees and pollinator plugs that students were able to plant as part of the educational programs.  The Sibley SWCD went over topics such as Minnesota's native vegetation, coniferous and deciduous trees, native prairies and the importance of pollinators.  Sibley SWCD hopes to continue offering this program to area schools as part of their education and outreach program.
