Any high-school senior attending public, parochial, or home-school, planning to attend college after graduation is encouraged to enter the 2021-2022 MASWCD Area VI Scholarship Essay Contest. Applicants are asked to compose and submit a 1000-word maximum essay and be mailed to the Area VI Scholarship Chairman: M R Koenig 80656 CO RD 8 Buffalo Lake, MN 55314 on one of the following topics:
1. The relationship between people and trees.
2. The interrelation of the natural environment and human health.
Applicants should have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 through high school.
Must obtain a minimum 2.5 GPA during their first semester of college and verification of this must be mailed or emailed to the scholarship committee no later than January 1st, 2023.
The scholarship must be used for the purpose of study at an accredited four-year college, university, community college, or vocational school.
Good outstanding character as verified by a school administrator, teacher, coach, minister, or employer. (Extra-curricular and community involvement are also desirable attributes.)
Applications are due April 15, 2022 and will not be considered if received later than said date.
Up to two scholarships will be awarded, first and second place contestants will be awarded $1,000 and $500 respectively. Contact your local county SWCD office with any questions.
